The Every Other Day Diet Plan
There cannot be many of us that have not at least attempted a diet at least once. There are many different types of diet for you to choose and it can be a difficult job deciding which one suits you best. Here we look at the Every Other Day Diet.
The basic principle of this diet is to eat normally (a normal diet) one day and the next day you only consume 300 to 400 calories.
The theory behind this diet is that you do not slow your metabolism down by starving yourself as this is one way that you will actually not lose weight or even gain weight on a diet.
This happens as your body will store food as it will go into panic mode thinking that there may be no more food to come and will try to reserve its fat stores to keep you going.
A retired kidney specialist came up with the diet as he thought it would be beneficial for some people. There is no doubt that this type of diet may suit some but would be unwise for people with already diagnosed health problems to follow the EODD Diet
The diet has not been tested with a control group so always consult your doctor prior to starting any diet.
It is essential when following any diet that a large quantity of your food comes from fruit and vegetables. So find appealing and tasty ways to eat those within your diet.
When you are having your lower calorie day try and balance fruit and vegetables with protein. It is dangerous to not eat much food and can make you very unwell. It is also important to stay well hydrated and to drink at least 7 glasses of fluid throughout the day.
If you find yourself feeling at all unwell come straight off the diet and eat something sweet or containing carbohydrates to bring your blood sugar back to normal.
Diet on its own is a good way to lose way, but it is best to do it sensibly. For example following a low fat diet like EODD
To combine dieting with exercise will ensure better and faster results. You will tone as you lose weight and you will burn calories off faster.
It is best not to lose weight too quickly though as it can be detrimental to your health. A gradual but steady loss of weight is the ideal but you may find it comes off very easily in the first few weeks and then may slow down or stop, do not lose heart, you will get there
